Next City Council Meeting: FY 2017-2018 Budget Adoption Hearing on June 6, 2017

The next meeting of the Stanfield City Council will be the FY 2017-2018 Budget Adoption Hearing. This hearing will be held at the Stanfield Council Chambers, 150 West Coe Avenue, Stanfield, Oregon at 7:00 p.m. The purpose of the meeting is to receive the adopt the budget recommended by the budget committee. A copy of the approved budget document may be inspected or obtained at Stanfield City Hall, 160 South Main, Stanfield, OR 97875, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. This is a public meeting where deliberation of the City Council will take place. Any person may appear at the meeting and discuss the proposed programs with the City Council.

Planning Commission Vacancy

There is a vacancy on the Planning Commission, and the City Council is seeking volunteers to fill the position. If you are interested in serving your community, please contact the City Manager for more information, at 541-449-3831 or citymanager@cityofstanfield.com.

Stanfield Downtown Code Update

The City of Stanfield is conducting an update to its downtown code. The first community meeting was held on May 17, 2016 at the Stanfield Secondary School ( 1120 N. Main) at 7 pm. Another meeting was held on September 20, 2016 with the Stanfield City Council and Planning Commission. A public hearing was held before the Planning Commission on November 15, 2016. The Planning Commission approved the amendments, with some slight changes, and recommended thair adoption by the City Council. There will be a public hearing before the City Council on December 6, 2016.

The goals of the project are to:

  • Remove any barriers to downtown development
  • Encourage a pleasant and walkable downtown
  • Promote a consistent visual design using colors and other building elements
  • Make the development code easier to read and understand

Oregon's Animal Tethering Law

A new animal tethering statute became law on January 1st, 2014. This new law limits the amount of time that an animal can be tethered during a 24-hour period and includes other modifications to minimum standards for shelterm bedding, and keeping animals in vehicles. Celebrating 100 years

On Monday May 10, 2010, the City of Stanfield turned 100 years old.

The City of Stanfield is conveniently located on Highway 395 right off of I-84. It is conveniently situated in Umatilla County only 10 minutes from Hermiston, about 30 minutes from Pendleton, and about a 45-minute drive to the Tri-Cities, WA. It is also only 15 minutes from the mighty Columbia River. It is a friendly and inviting place to live, work or locate your business.

The City boasts an array of parks for all ages with baseball and soccer fields, and basketball courts as well as playgrounds and walking paths. The City has also grown into a regional player and partner in transportation and quality government, and the City is poised for effective economic growth and development.
